Title says it all. DA has been acting like a coach and would be a welcomed players coach. He knows all aspects of the game and is a true leader. He knows many offensive sets and schemes and has all the players respect. He's also played under Tubby Smith, Popovich, Riley, among others.
I vote for DA for coach.

Can't be any worse than Sam Vincent but in reality I don't think we take a chance on a rookie coach again. Larry Brown has coached in college and the pros where he won titles in both and he may be a perfect fit to develop these younger players. Larry would probably take the job because he likes challenges and he wants to eliminate the image left of him when he left that wonderfully run program further up north. What's that? No not Detroit, I meant the New York Knicks. LolOriginally Posted by Bumpus
On a side note DA would make a nice assistant coach to a great coach like Larry Brown. DA may one day be an NBA head coach if he choses but for now he needs to be an assistant to some great coaches and be groomed imo.
I can live with that. Coach in 4 years after LB?Originally Posted by BobCatsFanInTx

I absolutely love the idea of keeping DA on the bench as an assistant and grooming him for the job in a few years. That would be perfect. Especially if we bring in Larry Brown, who never seems to be able to stay in one place for too long, then the transition when he leaves would be smoother by having a groomed DA on the bench ready to take over when the time is right.
Anything but Vincent (within reason, of course).

Also I don't think we'll fire Vincent immediately. I guess he'll be given another chance for the next season, and if he again screws things up by the 2009 all-star break, he'll be fired, just like what was done to Terry Stotts in Milwaukee.

I thought about this last year, but DA has some legs in him and can play a bit more. Then I say we get him asap as an assistant and hire him once hes ready. No more Sam Vincent mistakes. I think the real question is how would players look at him after being a team mate and then becoming a coach.
If he starts out as a assistant and works his way into coaching then I dont see any problems. The young guys will still listen to his experience in different situations and apply it to their game. Do it longer than Ham Biscuit ever did.....![]()

sure DA for president too!
