yeah....Brook Lopez is really good

Brook Lopez does look good.....................but he also looks predictable, has no counter moves and is a bit of a black hole on offense.
If we are 1,000,000% sure that Mayo could play the point full time, why not try our luck at finding the super star that we are missing?
I wish he could play PG full time but I have serious doubts. From what I've read he's just passable playing the point in college. The pace in the NBA does a lot of pure PGs in so I wouldn't bank on Mayo playing PG except for in spot minutes.Originally Posted by Big Slam
I have no problem dealing with 3 great wings however; I'd definitely go for the potential superstar at 3rd.

So what do we make of Mayo as a prospect? Drop the LeBron comparison and think of him more like Andre Iguodala, only if Iguodala was a first-class passer ... and if he isn't one of the top-five picks in June, I will be flabbergasted. He's too good. More importantly, thanks to Mayo's growth at USC over the past two months, Vince Carter remains safe as my least-favorite player of this generation.

We should make it a policy to put quotes in quote boxes. I've read several posts in the last few days that I thought were poster's comments on a link only to discover they were actually quotes from the passage.Originally Posted by spectre

Actually, I appreciated reading his comments about the college folks. I'm just really scared of Mayo. Obviously, he's going to be good. No question. And maybe being overlooked all season knocked down his hubris a bit.
Felton, Mayo, Richardson, and Wallace would be some seriously entertaining basketball for sure. But would we win a title with that many wing players? Could they coexist?
SOMEONE will pay for THIS!
Sorry DNB...it was early!
If we selected Mayo and he panned out then we'd obviously have to make a move to balance the roster, but between the 2 positions that still equals 32 mpg each...and I'd also slot at least 5 of Mayo's to the PG position.
Hammer would obviously suffer, but his contract will already be borderline worth it and he can be moved this summer. After we get into the season if everything is working like we hope then the 3rd wing...which would be a valuable piece...could then be moved for a core player.
Really, this is how the draft is supposed to play out; draft BPA and move pieces to get the needs. We have a lot of excess and it's past time to consolidate.

My only concern then is that we'd have Mayo, Swish, Crash, Hammer, Ammo, Dude all to play just 2 positions.
Unless we can move 2 or three of the guys via trade and turn them into something nice, we'd end up like the Hawks V.2
Hopefully our organization won't continue to run with 5 wing guys for 4 seasons like the Hawks have. Like I said above taking BPA isn't the end...you have to utilize trades to balance the roster.
Tell the truth...that Iggy comparison got you excited just a little didn't it?
