    Default The Brook Lopez Thread

You can't deny the kid has great size for the NBA 5 spot. He runs the court well and is a wide bodied true 7 footer.

He has a varierty of post moves that he executes really well and more often than not commands a double team.

Only problem with him I have is that he doesn't seem like a quick thinker and doesn't really possess counter moves. Once he starts to execute his move, he'll try and complete it no matter how the D reacts. I think he'll get called for a lot of offensive fouls in the NBA.

Comparison: Jermaine (offense) meets Darko (defense)

    Best Fit: Minni, Chicago, Pacers

I'd have to take him for Charlotte if available when we pick. He just seems to be very smart game-wise. He plays under control from what I've seen, which is difficult for a big man who is so active. I think he possesses a lot of moves down low, so I'd grab him if we could. I dont see much Kwame potential in him. Maybe Brad Miller at worst.

    Brad Miller at worst??!!!

If his worst is Brad Miller, I'll trade just about anybody on our team for him.

Agreed Dnb. Saying Brad Miller at worse is serisouly selling Brad Miller short!!

Plus, Lopez doesn't have any where NEAR the passing of Brad Miller.

I was not trying to short change Miller. I just think Lopez is going to be a very good Center in the NBA.

And while he may be, I'll stick to my previous thread of assuming the worst with bigs. I think at this point, I'd rather take a chance on one of the highly touted pgs or Mayo than on Lopez.

They lost tonight to Texas, but the big man showed why he is the best Center in College. He is is going to be the #3 pick, after Beasley and Rose. If the #2 team is set at PG, he may go #2.

Agreed ohara831 - he carried Stanford tonight. Noone else stepped up. BUT, he was playing against Texas. They have Atchley and Pittman as their bigs. A guy of Lopez's size and skill set SHOULD totally dominate the Longhorns. He shot 50% from the floor tonight. Against the Longhorns short line up he should have shot 60+%.

And I still say he is very methodical.

In saying that, if the Grizz do land the #3 pick, I think he would be a great fit there.

He'd be a great fit if Charlotte lands the #3 pick, too!

To be honest, I don't see him as that much better than Hibbert (I have Hibbert to the Wolves picking #4 on my mock!!)
