    Default The Anthony Randolph Thread

Don't know much about the kid other than he blocks a lot of shots for a wing player.

NBADraft.net has him as the pick for our spot. He's got good size, but maybe a taller natural SF.

Can the kid play PF? Would he be a good fit?

I've never seen him play so I can't comment, but I've read a lot about him and read all the Chris Bosh comparisons so it's hard not to take notice.

Sounds very raw and very thin though. Very Davidson like in fact.

In saying that, if Griffin is off the board when we pick, he might be worth a look?

Has anyone actually seen him play a game or two?

Griffin appears to be off the board period.

He appears to be much more polished than Davidson, but with the same smaller frame. I like that despite his frame, he was a good rebounder and shot blocker. I'm wondering if he might be a cross between Prince and Camby, which would be quite nice for us. The fact that he has some midrange is nice too.

I know you're high on a couple of the bigs like Hibbert, but I'm scared to death of all of them with our first pick. I'd almost rather take the chance on Randolph.

BTW... ESPN has him going before the 8th pick, which is interesting.

Didn't Davidson average something like 2.5 blocks a game at Bama? The same as Randolph at LSU? I think they were both at about 8 boards a game and 15ppg too.

The big differnece between them at school is that Randolph averaged a whole lot more when it came to turn overs!!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not totally against the idea of drafting Randolph, it's just that we already have project bigs in Davidson and Hollins. I'm not that keen on taking up 3 roster spots on project bigs.

    Know what I mean?

Given that we are picking either #8 or #9, with Griffin out, we are looking at Randolph, Love or DeAndre Jordan if we want big; otherwise I believe we will go Westbrook. He would be be the combo guard to spell both Ray and J-Rich. He would be the one we get IF Mayo is already gone (and he will be) Mayo would fill that Combo Guard Role perfectly. That is if the ping pong balls fall as planned.

I may revise this later, but that is my off the cuff view.

I'm with you. I just keep reading good things. He sounds like a more Dirk like Davidson. I definitely don't want another project big or tweener; I want a legit big. So, maybe we should just draft a guard and go for a big in the FA pool.

Or get Davidson on 'roids so he truly does become Super Jermareo.

Now RealGM has us picking him too.

Considering he's the only real PF prospect in the lottery (outside of Beasley), he may be a future Bobcat.

I can't seem to find any video on this kid but I would jump at the chance to draft him if we land at the 8th or 9th spot high risk because of his size right now but he can score and create his own shot plus he's only 18 has a lot of time to start to develope his body.

Aside from the fact that he could be a complete bust, my main concern is that he can't lock down the 4 spot, making us have to get both a legit big and a backup pg in the FA pool. However, there aren't many legit 4s in the draft, so we're likely to have to find both in the FA pool unless we opt for one of the pgs.

blah, blah... I think the bottom line is that this draft does not have what we need in it. I'm just not very positive about it, unless we win one of the first two picks.

If this kid really is 6'10" is moves amazingly well!!

He really does look painfully thin though - especially in that last image of him running towards the left. His arms look like tooth picks - which worries me.

But man, is he ever fast!!
