Default Larry Brown hiring media reaction thread.

On ESPN's "Around The Horn" everyone agreed it was a great hire and they all felt it would make us a playoff team next season...

And as BobCatsFanInETx noted. Coach Brown will be on Jim Rome's "Rome is Burning" tomorrow on ESPN. Love the immediate media attention. Just have to keep the momentum rolling!

Listening to the radio today and watching some ESPN, I've yet to hear someone say it was a bad move.

I'm certainly looking forward to seeing the new on-court product of this move next season.

edit: I've yet to hear what Steven A. Smith has to yell - because I've never heard him speak - about the hiring.

Don't ever stop, man. You just keep dropping knowledge gold on us.

Alternatively, you could make the complete opposite argument if you had said,
does anyone remember what he did with the pistons?? wow what a great coach we're getting
See, one small change and we get a statement that's also true and yet puts an entirely different and more accurate context on what you're saying. Larry Brown is a much better coach than Sam Vincent.

Sam Vincent have any kids we dont know about?

Larry Brown has been considered one of the greatest NBA coaches of all time. he has one title and is REPEATEDLY hired on NBA teams. thats what hes done. What has Sam done to deserve staying? Where do you get this Sam gonna be a good coach from... you must know something i dont know.

exactly and not to mention... i dont even consider what he did in New York to be bad.

he took on a team of degenerates hired by a retarded menacing pervy GM. no one could work in that situation and all he did was stick to his more intelligent guns. the New York Knicks are a crap franchise with crap guidance. SEND SAM VINCENT to the Knicks next year. They would have him duct taped to the locker room door by halftime of the 2nd game.

Larry Brown acted like a sane person in a crazy organization.

Im no fan of his jumping around from team to team and yeah it makes me a little worried about the future... but in no way am i using NY Knicks as a baramoter on Larry Brown.

Wow I think Ziggy hired one of the producers from WFNZ that just gets paid to stir things up or to be the devil's advocate. Masta, you pretty much say ridiculous things to try and get a rise out of people. I saw in the other post where you called somebody "stupid." I'd hate to even argue with you because I think it just brings the whole board down.

Larry Brown does more for this francise than almost anything we've had happen so far. He's a HALL OF FAME coach, and while it seems like they hand that out to about 25 people a year, that means a whole pile to me. I heard someone give the run down of what he did throughout his carreer today and it blew my mind. The man may not stay places long but he props up struggling franchises that turn into winners(San Antonio, NJ, Indiana, Clips(for a min), PHILLY), or he wins(Detroit, Kansas). He has gotten us as much press today as we've had since MJ bought in. The difference here is Larry will have to be in town and he will speak to reporters and the public.

As for the Carolina thing: I get it, Carolina Basketball is the biggest thing going. I really do. Dean Smith was the all time leader in wins for a while, he's great he truely is, but this is the NBA for crissakes. Lets move on past that alma mater garbage, move on past the we're the greatest, Duke sucks, everyone else in the ACC and the rest of college basketball has nothing on us. Dean made some great talents into great NBA players, some great assistants and players into great coaches. Does the tie have to be so close, does the cord back to Mama Dean have to be so short? Do we have to hear about it all the time? I love MJ, I like Ray and Sean(if he'd play), I'm sure Phil is a good coach, and I love the fact that Larry Brown is the coach of the Bobcats but can't it just be because they are all talented, smart, driven individuals that happened to go to and play basketball at the same school?

One thing I liked on the Mac Attack on WFNZ today, LB was asked why here? Why the Bobcats? His response was something to the effect of "MJ is great, I've always been a big fan, Good Players and my mom, daughters and grandkids live here, I want to retire here" The whole interview can be found right on the home page at www.wfnz.com scroll down to where they have the podcasts on the left side. He asked MJ when he called, "Michael are you engaged with this team?" MJ of course told him yes. Engaged like Pam and Roy from The Office? Together but not dedicated to the day in day out? That's a statement for another page.

Overall, great media reaction locally on WFNZ, that I listen to all day at work, if you couldn't tell. Also, in the paper, where Bonnell's comments in his blog showed a little intuitiveness and insight. (which one of you put the comment about him posting it twice because he had a few drinks on the way to work?)

Waaaayyy too long of a post, but I've been so jacked up about it today, all day and no one to really share it with because the old bastards I work with are some of those that don't want to put any money in ol Bobcat Johnson's pocket.

Wilbon on PTI said he could not believe coach Brown took the Bobcats job with all the other potential openings available soon. phoenix / denver / miami / etc - Sort of has a negative connotation to it but from where we are sitting I'll take it is a compliment to the quality of our coach.

Yeah I saw that too. I think Wilbon is just worried we may take his Wizards spot in the playoffs . Both he and Kornheiser talked about how great Coach Brown is.
