I liked the headers we had on version 1.0 of Bobcats Planet. (note: I really like the updates and work that Ziggy has put in to the new site) I dunno, maybe I'm biased and anti-change, but the header on the home page just isn't up to par with how it looked before.

edit: Yeah, Alex, I like yours a lot. Where can I see it used?

Well, I'm pretty conservative when it comes to change, but I like the headers. Those and the arcade are great new additions. I'm still getting used to the actual boards, namely the new text screen, how to reply, and such. I sorely miss the old emoticons and the player names that were analogous to number of posts; those two are my only complaints about the new, otherwise improved site.

Okay Alex, I think I just saw your work on the home page. It's sweet. I guess I just wasn't too enthralled with the "stars" headers, but the ones that Alex is churning out are excellent and flow well with the new site.

And the arcade is most sweet.

It's my understanding, from ziggy, that all the banners on the main page just rotate every time you come to the site, so you may see mine once and then you may see the others some other time you visit.

I mostly miss being able to ring up just the new posts. I am using the NEW POSTS on the menu, but its not as nice as the old one. Its not a big deal though, overall this is better I think.

As for the home page headers, they're so dominant now on the home page that its important that they be well done. To that extent, I think they could use improvement. For whatever my 2 cents are worth I think Alex's is very good, the one with the BIG Bobcats Planet in the center is fun, but the lens flare one is not as good. I suppose that's the one I'd try to improve first. Lens Flare is kind of an over-used photoshop enhancement. Likewise, the Bobcat in the circle on the left side is not well proportioned and kind of ugly (sorry I don't know a better way to say it) :P.

Honestly, my first impression the first time I rung up the site and saw the lens flare header wasn't positive. But otherwise its all looking good.

I know that's being subjective and critical, but part of being an artist is to receive praise and criticism for your work.

I've done a lot of photoshopping myself and have done some good work and some not so good. It takes a lot of time, rework, exploring, testing and reworking again; to get it right. I know that sometimes these take an awful long time to do; but generally when you get one good you know it! ha its a fun feeling....which usually involves laughing out loud and clapping your hands at your computer.

Good stuff happens with the not so good, but the fun part is you keep going and do better.

Grats to Ammofan, SteveMorrison and Alex for your efforts and good work! You guys are awesome!

I totally agree. Those space banners are Horrible. I mean Space? WTF? Can you say Lame! I mean what does Space have to do with Bobcats planet? I think that new logo is cool but I don't get the bobcat face on the planet. Where does that tie in with our cool site. Lens Flare? Doesn't look like lights from Space at all. Skeetch was right, the most basic feature on Photoshop. Well not as basic as Color Overlay but basic non the less.

I really loved listening to Skeetch's words of wisdom on pictures. It really speaks to me. Skeetch any of your work on the Internet anywhere? Can we see some of your work?

I noticed the bobcat letters spell "Planet" along with the Players names, but I don't know if it was really needed here.

I would have totally did something better like take pictures and logos and just did something basic. You know, not that much talent put into the work. Blue and Orange color overlay stuff. You know stuff you can do with one hand on the mouse and the other eating a Sub. Few clicks and your done.

Come on people!

Keetch was just giving some constructive criticism, and not by any means trying to insult you directly.

I for one agree with Keetch. I'm not huge on the space-header, either. It doesn't seem to fit aesthetically with the rest of the site. Now, admittedly, I know nothing of photo-shopping or how much more difficult it was to do what you did versus what Alex did or what Ammofan or anyone else did. All I can do is give some feedback on how it looks. Difficulty and complexity do not translate to beauty, though. Consider Mozart. He wrote simpler pieces, but they were brilliant and beautiful just the same.

I think most everyone here appreciates your work. Those comics you made were fantastic. I'm sorry that you are getting upset over the fact that someone didn't like one thing you did.
