Look, I am/was a huge melo fan. But really I dont think he goes in the direction we want either, not that we have a chance to get him.
Melo is a lot of shots, a lot of scoring, and not great 1 on 1 defense. He shoots a lot of turnarounds, postmoves, and mid range jumpers.
If he was with JSwish, it may not be a bad set up, but the way our team was built (with other pieces emeka and Ray and some PF yet to be found) we cannot have to many people clogging the middle. Ray loves the drive, Mek sits on the block and cannot go out more then 8 feet, and we will have the PF (who would HAVE to be able to extend out, with Nazr, it would be even worse)
Now if we got a off guard who can feed the beast that is JSwish, Jswish will have several options and most likely a mismatch being a smaller 3. If the off guard can drive that would be great, but his game cannot be based around camping out on the block.
It could work either way, but I think Melo doesnt directly fit with us. (Plus hes probably not going anywhere, though today they said no one is a definite)
I think we should really be talking about considering Kenyon Martin. Terrible contract, but denver would love nothing more then to ditch his contract, and we could probably grab several picks from them, along with maybe JR Smiths rights? I think Kmart is silently making a strong comeback. Hes a good post presence but also can get out on the shooting 4. (they made him guard Kobe in the series) We can handle one bad contract on our team.
