Default Tyrus Thomas - the missing piece?

IF the Bulls go with Beasley, could we get TT? He would provide that athletic PF we need to guard the Bosh's etc of the NBA.

Ammo and a 2nd for TT?

Then with the #9, we draft either DJ or Westbrook.

    Felts - DJ/Westbrook
    Swish - Hammer
    Crash - Dude
    TT - McMay - Davidson
    EO50 - Nazzy - Hollins

Means we would start next season having addressed our two biggest holes - a back up PG and an athletic PF.

I'm just not sure if TT is going to break out. At this point, I'd feel more secure with drafting Love at #9, and grabbing the back up PG with our early 2nd round. Love's game is from the paint to the 3 pt line. So far, TT has not shown much from the scoring ability. Lots of potential, and a higher ceiling than Love, but Love is much more sound and a sure bet to be a very solid NBA player. The "potential" hype can be very nasty if it is not reached and bites us.

Guys like TT will give Love fits when he tries to guard them. I like Love on the offensive end, but I think he will be exposed on the defensive end - which is the last thing we need.

TT can hang with guys like LMA etc.

IF they go with Beasley, which isn't a guarantee. Rumor has it that they been "quietly" shopping Hinrich even before they won the pick.

Hell yes I'd trade Ammo + 2nd for TT. Maybe some of that agression would rub off on Mek...and he'd be some insurance in case he decided to take the QO.

Would they need Ammo with Nocioni on their roster though?

i love that we are still shopping Adam Morrison even though he doesnt have a shred of trade worth. his own teams fans have been trying to move him since day 1. like Chicago is gonna line up to get a second round pick and a back up back up SF with a bad knee. The last thing they really need in Chicago is a SF. so this wont work.

i think they will keep him and go with Rose anyway. but if they do go with Beasley... TT would make us better surely. but theres no way they go with that deal because Ammo is worth more to us than what we could ever get in a trade. and i dont mean that in a good way... more of a ... were stuck with him way.

I think that Nocioni and Ammo are very different players. I also think that Ben Gordon wont be a Bull next season - so Ammo could replace him as their 6th man scoring burst from the bench (like Hammer for us).

I'm hearing you about TT's aggression. It would be great to see one of our guys that pumped during a game. We've never had that and I think it's something we really lack.

    Good point about Gordon.

The good thing about this is we get deeper at a position of need without giving up our pick.

I think I'd give serious consideration to Westbrook over DJ however. I love the idea of having a quality backup PG on a rookie deal, but to me a combo guard is even better, esp. a defensive minded one who has no fear on a drive.

I'd be down with that. Plus, adding Westbrook instead of DJ would remove any temptation to play Felts at the 2. If we did go small, Westbrook could play the 2.

The only problem I have with Westbrook is the suspect range on his J (out to the NBA 3pt line).

I'm SO glad the OP didn't call Tyrus Thomas the missing LINK...because somewhere Sean May would be like "SAUSAGE!"

For what it's worth, I wouldn't touch this guy with a cattle prod. He's an admitted mercenary (playing only for the money), he's done nothing at this level, and really only had a decent freshman season at LSU....nothing exceptional. Let this punk roll around in his rookie contract dollars while guys with better drive and ambition make him irrelevant when his contract expires. He just seems like a relic from the old selfish NBA image from the 90's, and I want no part of that.
