Default .500 or post season possible????

    hey all,

first post here after finding you thru wiki. great site. i am a UK Bobcats fan.

just wondered what you all thought about the possibility of the cats reaching .500 or the post season (we all know thats easier than .500 in the East!!) with the right trades/picks if not, how far away are they from that??

i like the young core and they are maturing into a team, with decent additions we must go close.

Welcome Greg, good to have you here.

I think that .500 is a real possibility next season. Especially with the team having a real coach. I think the team has a lot of neglected and poorly directed talent that can hopefully shine under Larry Brown. There are still missing pieces, of course, but who knows what else this offseason will bring.

I tend to agree. We are getting there, with some offseason moves including appointing me gm we should be well on our way to the playoffs. (enough with that pitch for now)

I think .500 is a lock. We're at least 8 games better just by sending Sam Vincent packing.

Welcome Greg! Look forward to having you on the Boards with us!

I think .500 is very likely, and a good shot at the Post Season. it really comes down to what talent we bring in via Draft or trades. With the current players, and Ammo and May being able to contribute (hopefully), we should just with that be near .500. Getting another playmaker who can contribute something significant should put us over the top.

**That said, make no mistake that our Division is not for weaklings. Orlando has become a very good team, Atlanta is up and coming and they will stay good if they can can resign the players that matter, and Washington will be strong again if they can resign Gilbert and Antawn. Miami is the weakest link, and they may be about to add Beasley or Mayo and either makes them better than last season.

    THAT'S AWESOME!

I edited the Bobcats wiki page about a month ago and added bobcatsplanet at the bottom of the page next to the link to the main website

Ohara hit the nail on the head our division will be very competitive next year every team is good or will be better after the draft. I think .500 is a lock if the injury bug doesn't hit our core players but our playoff window is not as open as it was this past season with Rose probably going to Chicago and Beasley likely joining the SouthEast division with a healthy Wade not to mention he's working with Tim Grover again (MJ's former trainer also the guy he worked with when the Heat won the championship) the Heat will be a scary team.

i agree with you about the SE division next season. Orlando are already a decent side, wizards made the play-offs and if they resign they will be just as good. The Heat will almost certainly improve with Beasley/Rose and depending on what they do with Marion and the Hawks have a nice young team.

could be tricky getting through that lot but hopeful

    Welcome Greg.

With the firing of SV and the hiring of LB, we're already a better team. If we have a good draft and pick up a FA or 2, making the playoffs should be no problem.

    Welcome Greg!

Can you ask again on Christmas Day?

The reason I ask is that I thought we should win our division going into last season with Swish on the roster, your players a year older and a 'real coach". But as it turned out, we had season ending injuries to our players before a game was played and a donkey for a coach.

I want to wait until I see who we draft/trade for and how the players respond to a "real coach" in LB before I make predictions.

On the surface though, we should be a 500 team.
