I wonder what you fellow Bobcats fans like to listen.
I generally listen to alternative pop-rock and death metal genres. Rap and electronic-trance kinds are really far to me.
My favorites are The Cranberries (Irish alternative rock band), Dido (English pop singer), Opeth and Dark Tranquillity (Swedish death metal bands) I also like Michelle Branch so much.

I'm amped about the new Metallica album dropping in a few weeks
I've been listening to classic rock a lot lately, particularly The Who. Tommy is sheer genius. Other artists that are particular favorites are CCR and Neil Young.
Metal bands are early Metallica, Megadeth, and Slayer (South of Heaven is probably my fave). Modern metal, I have a real guilty pleasure....Dragonforce. I know, I know, but I like it. For viking metal, I've heard some Mors Principium Est and think they're pretty pimp.
I'll even throw a little Eminimem, NWA, or PE on for some hip hop now and then. Mix things up a little.
I just don't feel top 40 or country. I usually want to have a bit of a message or a tinge of anger in my music. While classic rock isn't hard, a lot of it was bitter at the establishment at the time or, at the least, had a meaning.
Today at work (on my headphones) I listened to The Roots, Stevie Wonder and some old Prince (Controversy & 1999) and to finish my day off I listened to some old Boogie Down Productions (By All Means Necessary)
Listening to music at work calms me and keeps me from strangling my coworkers![]()
Most excellent thread, tambo. Generally, I'm just into rock of the heavier variety, though I like progressive, and some emo (though I hate those terms) and I dabble in most other things except contemporary rap/pop/R&B/country. And none of that scary death metal stuff: I like my music to be pleasing and/or challening, and fun at times; incoherent cacophony that sounds like Amaymon shouting at the damned in some dank pit of hell doesn't do it for me, no offense. A shout-out to Dunk for his mention of The Who, CCR, and Neil Young, none of which can be listened to enough!
Not possible to list all, but some faves that are recommended: Ben Folds, Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots/Velvet Revolver, Smashing Pumpkins, Springsteen, Jeremy Enigk, (the Great Master) Woody Guthrie, The Verve, Coldplay, Sunny Day Real Estate, Built to Spill, Fleet Foxes, Fiona Apple, Dave Matthews/Tim Reynolds, Beatles, J.S. Bach, Hildegard of Bingen, Queen, Beck, Delfonics, Brothers Johnson, Blue Magic, Paul Simon....okay, I quit. There are others, but that's enough for now.

"The Charlotte Hornets name has been a mainstay throughout the region for many years, and we are excited to announce our intention to re-establish this historic brand. We believe that its return will galvanize our fan base by unifying our loyal Bobcats fans with those who have strong memories of our city's NBA predecessor." MJ, 5-21-13
