Default Shinn accepts blame - finally

    http://www.charlotteobserver.com/bob...ry/294630.html

Well, I still hate what he did by taking the team, but I give him credit for finally standing up and accepting his blame. I know it's been years, but that wound still hurts Charlotte basketball fans. At least his acknowledgment may help put the matter even further behind in our rear view mirror.

I don't know; I take that "apology" with a grain of salt. First of all, his Hornets are now an elite NBA team, and the new Charlotte franchise is among the worst teams, so it's easy for him to channel humility now from his high horse.

Also, I would rather him come out and admit he strong-armed Charlotte using bush league ultimatum tactics to get a new arena. I never cared about what he did with "Honey Bee" activity; that was tabloid fare. I hated the way he shat on the fans, and brought Woolridge in, whose only goal was to take this team out of Charlotte.

For me to ever let bygones be bygones with the Charlotte Hornets, the Bobcats will need to be a contending franchise for years to come, or Shinn to admit to strong-arming Charlotte, and listening to that punk Woolridge by moving the team out of Charlotte.

We deserve way better than Bob after having had to experience Shinn for all those years. They are about equally as bad though, just in different areas. At least the Hornets had a competent front office (still love you Bob Bass), though they couldn't draft worth a damn (George Zidek anyone?) Shinn might have been cheaper than Bob though, Shinn would have never signed Emeka or traded for J-Rich.

I felt like that for a long time.. It wont happen, and carrying around that resentment isn't good for your health, physically snd spiritually. Let it go, release the anger, and you will feel better in the morning - I promise! And I wont charge for that advise as you are a member in good standing here at the BP!! We need you at full strength!!

I'm surprised people still have anger at Shinn. I wasn't even that upset when the Hornets moved because the NBA was slowly dying to me and I just felt indifference. I was excited as hell when the Bobcats were awarded to Charlotte, but I had/have more anger at Ray Woolridge than George Shinn. Shinn's a cheap bastard, but I don't hate the guy.The Bobcats being here have slowly warmed me up to the NBA again and my entire focus is on seeing this team improve and get better.

That's ultimatley the key with me too, Jeff. Woolridge was evil incarnate, you could just tell that from looking at the guy with his Conway Twitty perm and chubby, ruddy face. Bringing him on board was the death of the Charlotte Hornets, so my anger was almost solely on him, but there was some on Shinn for allowing him the power to take the team out of Charlotte.

And ohara, it doesn't eat at me really too much. I mean, I was a latecomer to Hornets ball as it is---I was a Hawks fan as a kid 'til they traded Nique in '94 for goddam Danny Manning and tanked in the 2nd round of the playoffs. I started to pull for the Hornets in '97 when Rice was All Star MVP, and I really fell in love with them in '01 with B Diddy, Mash, E Rob, PJ, and Elden. When it was announced they were leaving during the '02 season, it hurt, but now that the NO Hornets have no ties to my Charlotte Hornets, it's not that big of a deal anymore. It's just I think Shinn needs to address the real sins he committed against Charlotte fans before I'll let him off the hook.

So, in summation, if I need help with letting things about, it's obviously that '94 trade when they shipped Nique to the Clips for that stooge Danny Manning. I mean, really, that trade just ruined the chemistry of the team, that still did finish first in the east. That was just a sham...
