Default Any interest in Joe Smith?

It is well talked about that Joe Smith is looking to get out of OKC and that he likely goes soon. Would you be interested in him coming to Charlotte? He's 6-10 and 225 PF with 13 years experience. Could be a good stand in this yr while we let him tutor Ajinca. Best thing is his salary is $4,795,000 and is a one yr. Could be something to trade Carroll and get rid of that 5 yr contract for a 1 yr deal for a short term PF. Interested?

Do you think the Thunder need a jump shooter like Matt?

Certainly...but what would be their incentive for taking on Hammer? They're going to want a draft pick at least and probably an expiring.

I was just looking at salary. Is there someone else on our roster salary wise which you think they would take? Main thing seems to be he wants out of OKC and they are ready to oblige.

I just looked over their roster/salaries and I'm not sure they would even care about short term contracts...they have a lot of cap space opening next year and might make the deal if they feel Hammer is the best value they can get for Smith...and short term (rest of this year0 he'd probably be fine...

I just think that it is clear that Carroll does not fit into LB's plans very much. To get rid of that 5 year Contract would be helpful to us over the next yr or so.

If Matt indeed is not going to fill a role for LB (and I'm not taking issue one way or the other) and it does not "appear" that he is then this would be a good trade...fills a short term need (stop gap) and gives us 5 million off the books next year...I wouldn't be opposed but I'm also not really that up on Smith as a player...I looked at his stats and they are of the stop gap at the PF position but so what if it is really to free up space...but players demanding trades from other teams always gives me pause...

SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Spurs announced today that they have obtained Kurt Thomas from the Seattle SuperSonics in exchange for Francisco Elson, Brent Barry and the team’s 2009 first round draft pick.
This is pretty much the same thing and they got 2 expirings and a (late) 1st round pick.

I'm thinking they'd want Ammo since we don't have a pick to send...and I'm not willing to do that.

BTW, I'd DEFINITELY do Hammer for Smith from our perspective. What I'm expecting tho is we'll trade him to Philly for Evans (which is what I think they offered this summer).

That may indeed be what they want spectre but there are times when a team can say this is what you'll get period...and again if it is the best value they will probably take it...unless of course they want McCant from the T'Wolves
