Default Someone explain to me how to play Pokemon

I'm far too lazy to read the instructions, so instead I will rely on the wisdom and knowledge of my BCP brethren .

Here's the story. My son ( 6 years old ) has a bunch of Pokemon cards and says "Dad, lets play Pokemon". I say "sure". He proceeds to explain to me the most convoluted set of Rules that I've ever heard in my entire life. I suspect that what he explained to me was 100% accurate, because no matter how many times we played the game his way, he managed to spin it so that he won.

    Please enlighten my dumb ass.

    Thanks.

Well, over here >>CLICK<< you have somewhat simplified rules, the current ones and the WoTC old rules, try not being lazy.

I also remember playing pokemon TCG game with step-by-step instructions on PC a while ago, 'twas great for beginners but can't nail the name of it now. I haven't played the pokemon TCG in years so I can't give you any handy tips, better get used to being trounced by your kid, I know I have had my share of losses handed down to me by my 8-year old cousin.

Well first you get a knife, then you get a gun, maybe a baseball bat just in case. You take the knife and stab your eyes out then take the gun and stick it up your nose and shoot, if you are still concious and coherent enough take the baseball bat and bash yourself in the face til you pass out. Pokemon is evil! It's like Japanese music, you don't understand it, don't particularly like it, it gets on your nerves after 30 seconds but you somewhat understand how someone somewhere could like it. I'm not that psychotic, i did the knife/gun/bat thing first then figured out how to use each of them to get out of playing pokemon.

Watch some old-school Iron Chef for about 4 hours, then Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla, then you're good to go

LOL, from what little that I understand of it, yes it is that painful. And to top it off my 6 year old is making up rules as the game goes.

so you're trolling for info on how to play so you don't get beat by your kid, who is 6...and for a game that involves spikey things from japan in the future? Ziggy, if it wasn't 30 degrees today i'd say get the kid a hoop and a ball....NOW! seriously though, creativity games are cool for that age. He's making up rules when most kids would throw the cards on the floor and stomp around. I have no idea about pokemon, all i know is once when i was teaching in vacation bible school i had to take a kid's stash and somehow 2 cards stuck in my pocket when i gave them back when it was over, kid never came back and i think i might have ruined his life. all because of the addiction that is POKEMON!
