I can show you ten threads criticizing Raymond for everyone 1 criticizing Crash and the difference in the output isn't 10 to 1.
I agree with Ampsport
think that GW and RF share many of the same qualities (hard work, drive to suceed, intensity, etc). And I think that sometimes we justify a poor game by GW because he has these qualities..meanwhile for Felton, we don't ever make excuses for him.
Noted. My point was Felton is a serviceable PG, but should be a 2 guard on most teams. His value is at the highest it has been, so maybe we should try and get something for him....
I don't know. But when I showed the stats last year to be the inverse of what you're implying (and not just slightly), it was shot down by many.
As I said then, Gerald is the heart and soul of the FANBASE and the Charlotte media. Bonnell has always had a mancrush on him and has covered him as such. Conversely with Felton, he has picked and prodded at him from day 1 when he was concerned about him unseating his other favorite Brevin Knight. Conversely, when they finally brought someone to unseat Felton as he clamored for every year in Augustin, he has gone out of his way to positively speak to every facet of his game. He would begrudgingly compliment Felton and often do it in a backhanded fashion. And as he now compliments him as much as he does, there is a part of me that thinks it is in hopes of doing his role to play up his trade value. It's not like he's showing any new positive traits that he hasn't in his past if Rick or anyone else was looking. So for all the effusive praise from Rick to just now start coming out....
For Ray's 3 years before this one, he has consistently had the highest clutch rating on 82games.com in terms of effects on wins and losses in games with a 5 pt differential in the 4th quarter or OT with 5 minutes left. And yet, the only thing you ever hear on this board is how he has had a history of "losing" games for us. Never mind that the few 4 or 5 game win streaks the franchise has had has been when he was playing predominantly or exclusively at the pg. It doesn't add up.
It almost seems like an unspoken code that if you wanna come in, fit in, and display a decent basketball IQ, speaking to Raymond Felton's shortcomings and negative impact on the team is the safe way in among the board. Furthermore, watching games and waiting for an opportunity to criticize him in a game thread is an instant point scorer. Nevermind what else happens.
As to comment about him never being top 5 in assists, well not in LB's system b/c of pace. That said, last year he was #7 in assists and after the All-Star Break and Jeff McInnis being let go, he was #5 overall and #1 in the East. He was only behind Paul, Nash, Williams, and Kidd. And unlike those guys, he had no PF to speak of, let alone an elite one like they did. All the non-pass first mess is a load. Read his pre-draft scouting report. He was more pass first than DJ, but when you are playing 2g, you are going to shoot more. The way that Bonnell and others have manipulated his stats (ignoring him splitting time at the 2) to make him look like a gunning pg is a joke.
