    I'm late to the party!

First, I've gotta say, nobody should feel bad for Matt Carroll! Yes, it can suck to have to move your whole family and leave the place you have known for a few years, BUT he's going to a team that has all the amenities any player could EVER ask for!! I remember reading a story where Shaq was spotted on Miami Beach with a Mavs towel because "they're the softest towels money can buy." Even their towels are top notch, they fly top notch, and eat top notch.

Second, I love the trade for us. Diop gives us a true 7-Footer that can play some interior D. We do need some offense but we don't need him to score necessarily. He'll get more minutes here and his numbers will definitely go up in CHA.

I think the most intriguing part of this trade is actually what comes next??

I like the trade concidering Matt stayed on the bench and Hollins only got spot minutes. We have a big that has experience just like the last trade we made and he may be hungry to prove something. Biggs are hard to come by and if you can get one making 5 to 7 mill I think it is a steal. Look at what we were going to do Curry at about 9 has more scoring but you are looking at 2 more mil a yr. We are defenitely looking at another trade in the works but I think it will be along the lines of something like this

    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/feature...0~26&te=&cash=

or maybe even something like this

    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/feature...~9~9&te=&cash=

The later one being the best because we get a fix at the 2 and also a backup at the 3 and we lose none of our core players still. Besides they have to make room for Ellis coming back their minutes are going to be cut and Nellie wants Randolph gone.

Lexy's a 3/4 hybrid, not a 5 at all, so Diop's acquisition means nothing in terms of his already meager () playing time.

    ******

As for the trade, I'm sorry to see both guys go, and there is a huge uncertainty with Diop who I know absolutely nothing about other than the fact he was recruited by Matt Doherty (DOH!) at Carolina, but instead took part of the high school draft party of '01. I vaguely remember him doing things in Dallas like rebounding and blocking shots. The good thing is, despite my skepticism about Diop, there was nothing major given up despite an arena fan favorite and a BCP favorite.

I agree with others that something is going on with Nazr; Juwan is the vet big man leader, so Nazr isn't needed in that capacity; and Diop makes him redundant as Mek's back-up; plus all that money wrapped up in limited backup 5s? Larry's not stupid, so something is definitely coming again, but what?

In summary, it's a low risk/high reward trade, and while it's not as exciting as the Raja/Boris trade, lots of good things could come from this...

So very true, He is more a 3 but too tall, kinda a 4 but too thin... He can hit 3s tho, which is the euro player in him, they play a much more outside game in euroleague.

That said I cant wait to see where this rabbit hole we call the Larry Brown Cats goes... I say next we send felton, nazr and May or a vet 1 and a killer 2...then we're set to run.

i'm late to the party too..but first, huge relief that we were not stupid to give away felton for diop

secondly, although i wanted carroll traded, it was due to his contract. don't remember diops contract , but isn't it pretty much the same?

lastly, sucks about hollins, but it didn't seem like he was cracking the rotation much

i hope that diop brings some good defensive presence and he is not a another nazr style trade bust...

I see us getting him as a means to an end with moving Nazr... We couldn't have Meka and Hollins being the only centers on the team, so we brought in Diop, now, Meka and Diop are good enough (with lexy praying for playing time) to let us move Nazr....Felton + Nazr + May is 12 mil, we should be able to bring in a 9mil/year SG and some development project 3, and maybe sign a veteran PG to a min contract remainder of the year.
What to do, what to do...
