    Default The Official Gerald Henderson Thread

    I think this kid is starting to realize his potential. he has been showing some takeover ability.

    Where do you think he goes in this draft?

    I personally think he would be a promising 2 guard to bring along side Gerald and Felton/dj.

    Beat me to the thread. Henderson is finally starting to realize his potential and show that he's capable of being a star player. The knock on him was that he never plays up to his potential but now that he is... WOW
    He plays really solid defense and otherwise doesn't have much of a knock to his game.

    If he keeps it up he'll be in the lottery talks before too long. I see him as more of a backup myself but I wouldn't mind giving him a chance next to DJ

    Is he a little undersized? How's his 3 ball?

    I think his size is fine for a 2 guard in the NBA. could probably stand to gain a few pounds of muscle. Size wise his body is like Kobe only not as tall. I don't think size is the issue.

    his 3 ball definitely leaves something to be desired though. inconsistent which is weird because inside the arc he has a very clean, consistent jumper. I mean hes had potential forever and hes just now starting to show sparks, so i guess thats a red flag.
    I don't know just watching him though... when his teammates make a concerted effort to get him to ball... he does good things with it. Thats what i like in a 2 guard.

    I'll put it this way, since the start of conference play (and his getting hot) he was shooting 75% from deep. That WAS before his most recent game though.

    So I've been keeping an eye on Henderson since Mustachio mentioned him (watching him right now against BC).

    There is a LOT to like about the kid. I like the body type comparison you made Mustachio (Kobe). He has that wiry but strong look to him. He's got a very nice upper body (has that V shape) that looks like it could fill out with some more muscle easily.

    Has those really nice long arms and gets right down low on D which is a great sign. So far this game he's shown he can score a few different ways. Has taken (but missed, although they looked nice) a couple of 3's, took his defender off the dribble and posted a guy up with a nice turn around fade away.

    Super, super explosive, quick and athletic (made a really nice base line cut and threw down hard with a double hander).

    Only knock I have seen is that if he turns the ball over or is out of the play he seems a little disinterested? As you said Mustachio, it looks like he does better if he gets more looks, and he SHOULD get more looks!!

    With the ways that he scores (long ball, post up etc) and his athletic ability, he reminds me a LOT of a better defensive playing Swish!!

    I like him.

    Henderson is my dark horse for 1st Devil in a Bobcats uniform.

    I understand the knocks against him (consistency, dissappearing)...but I think there are many times where they run the offense away from Henderson. Weve all seen he can carry the team on his back when their backs were against the wall. He can be deadly in clutch situations.

    I might get knocked for this...but I felt that K held him back early on. He should have been on the floor much more as a freshman. I think his ceiling is higher than many think. His highlight reel is probably better than Grant Hill's.

    I've only been watching him over the past month, but I can see that he would be better used as the focal point on offense - which doesn't happen. The Duke system is like the Georgetown system. It doesn't really play to indvidual players strengths but more so to a very specific system. That's not a bad thing, you need players who can play within a team concept.

    That said, if you never take the training wheels off, you might never know how fast you can ride.

    He would definitely be a welcomed piece to our puzzle. I wouldn't have much problem with bringing him in and letting him learn behind Raja and eventually taking that spot. I could see him playing very nicely alongside Crash and he has plenty of size and toughness to make up for Ray/DJ.

    I'm still saying though... you guys need to look at Jodie Meeks. I swear I'm the only guy that's been seeing him this year. He could fill in VERY nicely in our 2 spot and he's built like LeBron.

    Gerald=poor man's Kobe (size)
    Meeks=poor man's LeBron (size)

    I would love either as a consolation prize from missing out on Harden. Add in Tyreke and maybe DeRozan, it looks like we could be in great position late lottery to pick up a 2 that fits our needs.
