If they manage to finish the regular season at .450 and above, they're golden.

Well, Milwaukee's three games under at the 8th spot. Assuming a couple of teams put together some runs for the 8th spot, it's looking more and more like you're going to have to get 40-42 wins to make the playoffs.

I'm guessing we need 22 wins, because I think NJ will be a .500 team at the end of the season.

Usually, that would be true, but the 7 seed (Miami) is three games over .500. This year, I think you're going to have to do better than .450, unless one of the teams above us, New Jersey in particular, has a significant injury.

21 wins so far, 52 played, 30 left...I'd aim for us finishing well above .500 to be happily in the 6th seed... Oh, wait 8 teams go to the playoffs, do you want to be last in the playoffs tho? I do like matching up with the celtics because out of the teams on the top we have our best chances against them. All that said 24 wins from now at 45 wins to finish the season would be wonderful.

So are the 6th and the 5th, Pistons and Philly, respectively. Every team, except the Wizards, will go for that 8th spot, and for some to win, others have to lose. Figuring we'd be the one on the winning side, a score sligthly above .450 would do just fine. We should also consider the tight situation in the west, a lot of them westerners would just love to secure that final berth over the backs of easterners.

I pull for the west every time they play an east team other than us (clearly)

    Welcome to BCP Bobcat Ninja,

I'm guessing that 39-43 will be good enough to get us the 8th seed. With that being said, we'll have to go 18-12 after the all-star break to reach that number. Its going to be tough, but with a healthy Gerald I think we can do it.

What is Pistons' record from the New Year? They are going to have a significantly worse % than they have now.
