Default ESPN article on trade of Crash

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/column...Options-090217

Interesting that Ford says we should do this. By his own analysis, this decreases our wins by 6 but increases Portlands by 4? Is he more focused on the expiring of Raef L.? Does he think Batum and Rodriguez have long term benefits for the Cats?

    What do you think?

Default sources say wallace and more could be availible to portland

    heres what espn said:
Why should the Blazers do it?
This is the perfect market for a team like Portland to pick up an excellent player without giving up much in return. Rodriguez and Batum have promise, but Wallace is the real deal. He would add the kind of toughness and versatility that could put the Blazers over the top.
Why should the Bobcats do it?
They are rebuilding this team in Larry Brown's image. This deal gives them some young talent, but more importantly some cap space. Given their recent moves, they could use it.
    Will it happen?
The Blazers are in an enviable position. They have what might be the best asset in the NBA right now in LaFrentz's contract.
Sources say that they have their choice of Wallace, Richard Jefferson or Caron Butler if they're willing to send a few young players and LaFrentz's contract. Wallace, Jefferson and Butler all have their strengths, but for the Blazers' needs, I think Wallace is the best fit.

you guys think this is true....i hope not but we will see, here is the link

I just don't see the Bobcats dealing Crash at this point for the simple fact that he's not even returned from a pretty bad injury, of which he seemingly has at least one per year. I love Crash, but if you look at it from other teams' perspective, it's difficult to trade a fair set of players for a seemingly-often-injured player who isn't even back on the floor. If someone proposed us trading some of our decent players for someone who's currently injured, those of us on this board would have a cow...so I just don't see it happening.

This won't happen, the Cats already have enough French players.

Seriously though, I really don't see this happening since it would go against LB's efforts of bringing more veterans. Batum will be a very solid SF but LB wants the Cats to win now or at worst next season if we dug ourselves too big of a hole with the poor start + Crash's injury.

ford and the rest of the national writers/analysts have no idea what this team is all about or even the climate of the team. they all think "it makes sense" for us to trade our best player and the heart of the team for promising players and an expiring in a complete rip off of a deal.

For real, if Wiz called and said "How about Arenas for Felton, May and Nazr" I'd shit a brick if we pulled the trigger.

    Yea WTF is this?

What are we gonna do with cap space? What FA wants to come here?
Rodriguez and Batum are nice pieces but for Crash?

I thought they wanted Felton anyway?

I would be shocked if Wallace wasn't LB's favorite player on the team. He is George Lynch but way better. Wallace is the one player on this roster that gets to the free throw line constantly and he is money from the stripe this year.

Has anybody bothered to ask how the Trailblazers have all these players with bad contracts that get hurt and get insurance money, see Darius Miles who's contract they were almost able to escape. I am not saying there is anything underhanded going on for sure, but it is a sign on how messed up the nba contract system is when the best commodity in the league is a contract that should be a team killer but the insurance is picking up the tab so it is both cap space and payroll relief. It would sure be tempting to say this guy is really hurt if he has a big contract and turns out to suck.

The Bobcats would never make a move like this anyway because they are concerned about looking cheap, and if we did this everyone knows every announcer that can get our name right and plenty who can't too would be calling us cheap all over national tv.

I'm of the feeling that when something comes out in the media it was discussed and likely shot down. Some shot down come back (Diop) others dont (this and tinsley trade). Either way, we're about 48 hours out from knowing what all but one of our roster spots is for the rest of the season..
