    Default The Willie Warren Thread

Hey. I know he's a PG, but the kid is a phenom as only a FR. And when you do the Chad Ford Mock Lottery on ESPN, it has us taking him at #9 now. Very interesting. What to do, what to do. We have 2 PG's now, but what if the best player on the board at our pick is another PG?

Well, when reading up on him, they say since he is 6-4, he can actually play both the PG and SG. So that may make it easier to take him with so much upside.

He reminds me of Boobie Gibson. I'm not a huge fan of his. I could see him working really well on a team like the Lakers (next to Kobe) or the Blazers (next to Roy) but he is far from what we need IMO.

I'm SO glad somebody started a Willie Warren thread (I was going to the other day but forgot).

This guy plays more like Rodney Stucky than anything. Tall and built like a brickhouse. Boobie is a spot up deep threat and really nothing more. Willie takes it to the hole AND can shoot from deep.

Dickie V was all about him staying another year like Blake did, but I really think he's going to be a good NBA player. He wouldn't be half bad (along with Evans, Meeks, and Henderson) next to DJ for the future

I'm with you Swedd lol. I was actually thinking of starting a Warren thread because I see his name high up on Draft Express' list. Stuckey would be a pretty good comparison, and he would also be a great choice for us.

We picked a good year to be in need of a SG.

Went for 23 pts 3 reb 3 assts in their loss last night to Kansas. They wee without Blake Griffin, so Kansas could focus on stopping him.

The announcers kept saying all night how he was the only guard in the team that doesn't rely on Griffin to get his points. He basically does what he wants whenever he wants.

I LOVED how late in the game after Collins hit a three and was talking trash and Willie came down and drained a 25 footer right in his grill. Man has balls!

IMO, that's not a good thing. In fact, I have seen several occasions when he has flat out ignored getting the ball to Griffin when Griffin has had excellent position in favor of taking his own long shot - just like Boobie used to do with LMA at Texas.

Warren is a shoot 1st SG in a PG's body. When you have a total stud like Griffin on your team, you should be going to him as much as possible and just wait for the ball to kick out to you when he gets doubled.

As far as the Stuckey comparisons go: Warren doesn't have nearly the play making insticts or defense of Stuckey.

Stuckey's not a good long range shooter at all.

    I don't see them being a like 1 bit.

Slam, you think he is a better shooter than Stuckey which is good. But dont discount his playmaking skills just yet. Remember, he's only 19. He's doing this on a big stage at only 19. Give him the full season and NCAA Tourneyment. And he will only get better. And as of right now, both he and Teague will likely be on the table when we pick.

If I had to choose (meaning the several other SG's I like more all get snapped up and I was only left with those two) I would take Teague without thiking twice.
