    Default What about Steve Nash?

    Not sure if this is true but I'm thinking that Steve Nash can opt out and become a free agent this summer. If so, we should go after him. I know that Raymond wants to come back but We can't afford for him to come back if he breaks the bank. I also know that Steve and Raja Bell are best friends and he was close to Diaw too so I think maybe we should look more into this Steve Nash thing. This summer is a big free agent time because a bunch of teams are going to be saving up for 2010 which leaves a lot of good players out there in summer of 09. Just a thought to see what you guys think.

    Hey although Nash is a great but getting old PG, that would be cool for a year or so to let DJ learn more and what a great PG to learn from. They could also call us the Charlotte Sunny-Bobs ....

    Well, opting out would mean he'd be giving up 13.125 million bucks, and no one will be able to come close to matching that (only something like 4 teams have cap this summer and I think only Detroit could be considered a contender out of those...and they have Stuckey).

    However, according to this the Suns can exercise an "early opt out clause" to release Nash. If that happens he'll most likely be looking at a MLE deal, and I for one would be all over giving that to him.

    Question is, would we be able to win him over Toronto (his home country) or NY, which has his favorite coach?

    Being torn between one's home land, one's favourite coach and one's best friend... maybe the Atlantic Seaboard's what'll draw him this way. SunCats, hmm, has a nice ring to it.

    But he is too old, he'll turn 36 next season, that's grandpa age, basketball-wise.

    What's that say to Raymond Felton and DJ Augustin if they were to bring in Steve Nash? I don't think that's the area (as big of a fan as I am and have his jersey in my closet) that the Bobcats should be addressing with the MLE. This team is very close to something great and I feel that it would be wasting with two point guards who have looked fantastic lately. We got to find some help at SG and figure out what the future lies with the Big men outside of Okafor and Diop.

    I'm betting we won't even use the MLE this year. If we re-up Felton then we're going to be pushing near the luxury tax as is. From Tam's salary thread we're looking at 66,424,870 and that's just with the QO. We'll most likely lose about 3.6 of that assuming we let May walk...but who's to say they won't take the same approach with him as they did Morrison last year.

    I know this is an unpopular thing to say and feel, but I think they are going to qualify May. Best case we see how he is a full season in shape, worst case its one more year, he's expiring and we can trade him as a small expiring for either a late 1st round pick and junk with another year on it, or a decent player that someone wants to dump for salary purposes. On the same note, I'm glad we're not being scared of the salary cap. We stand to profit next year from teams trying to move players in fear of the luxury tax, and I'm honestly of the opinion that as long as we don't get into the tax we should grab up anything that will make us better.

    Assuming the new tax will be 68 million and you're advocating to pick up May's option that would only leave us 1.6 million +/- under the LUXURY TAX.

    Don't really see how we're going to grab up anything with that small amount of money.

    Well I agree with the idea of seeing if May can be healthy and I also agree that we will make some moves with all of the bigger market teams being cutting off their arms to stay under the LC.

    be nice if we could get rid of Nazr's contract, but if we make a PG move I would think Felts would be the one traded. They want move DJ because LB can make sure he molds him into his type of player and he has a few years less wear and tear on the body as raymond.

    I would think we would get rid of Felts, Nazr, for a good trade pick, or they just dump the two for future draft picks allowing us to grab someone on the free agency. We with trading Felts ( who i think is solid and getting better and better and plays with heart) and Nazr ( one of the dumbest moves we had made and is a waste) and by not keeping Cartier anbd the other D-Leaguer we could have free open slots. All depends on if we can package Nazr and Felts and bring in another PG and another PF/C

    Man , thanks for bringing that up, becuase as much as I would hate to see felts go, just thinking of bringing in some more talent and making our bench deeper while dumping Nazr is a win win. We all better get comfortable with the notion that more than likely 4 of the current cats will not be here come next year.

    Nash = No.

    I'd give Ray the MLE and go with him and DJ for the future rather than go with Nash and DJ. Nash is declining rapidly and wouldn't be what we're looking for. My guess is he goes to New York to be with D'Antoni to ride his career out with the huge NY fanbase and nondefensive style of play.

    May = Big Fucking No.

    Are we seriously even considering bringing him back for another year? Why would anyone want him? I don't care if he's fully healthy and ready to go. I wouldn't want him back unless he paid us back for the years of charity pay we gave him OR he played for the league minimum. NO TO MAY
