    Default 2009: 2nd round picks...

I was just curious on what we will be looking @ in the 2nd round...

I know there was the Weaver trade last year. Did that net us a 2009 2nd round pick?

I know that the Lakers will likely claim the 2nd rounder we owe them this year.

I saw on one mock board that the Spurs owe us a pick. Is this from the E. Williams deal a couple of years ago?

Just curious if anyone knows whats up. Thx

    Bobcats
Credits: • Charlotte will receive the least favorable of New Orleans' 2009 second-round pick (Eric Williams - Melvin Ely swap) or San Antonio's 2009 second-round pick.
    • Charlotte, via Oklahoma City, will receive New Jersey's second-round pick (Mikki Moore trade via Kyle Weaver trade)
Debits: • Los Angeles Lakers will receive Charlotte's 2009 second round pick, as part of Kareem Rush trade (2004).
    • Denver trades their 2008 first rounder for Charlotte's 2009 1st rounder (lottery protected in 2009, top 12 protected in 2010, top 10 protected in 2011, top 8 protected in 2012, top 3 protected in 2013, unprotected 2014).
    • The Suns will receive the Bobcat's 2010 second-round pick (Boris Diaw / Jason Richardson trade).

I would have kept Weaver last year. I'm still p/o'd that we traded him, even though we did have a glut of G's at the time. I just can't believe Larry would want to get rid of a defender like him... I call bad move from our FO and it didn't involve Brown.

I guess I'm still confused... how many picks do we have in the second round?
As long as NC has a team, I'm going to cheer for it

We have two that are not ours, that was traded to LA in 2004 involving some deal with Kareem Rush.

    Idk about the Lakers.

They are trying to *dump salaries (see the Radman trade), have a stingy owner, and really dont need anything in the 2nd round. They might take it just to have it, but i wouldnt be suprised if they let us keep it.

I don't think the Lakers have a choice.

Combine the two for a late first and get Hansbrough. We need a gritty undersized PF who can battle in the paint. I'd use our 1st on Raja Bell's heir apparant.

You know, I'm not a big fan of Hanbrough's at all. However, I wouldn't mind us trading two seconds for him.

I wouldn't be surprised if late first round picks couldn't be had for pretty cheap this year.
    SOMEONE will pay for THIS!

Neither am I really, but as you said a late first is nothing...like 700k guaranteed (and as you also said, teams will prbably be giving those late 1sts away). I've really come to appreciate those Maxiell type guys who'll get dirty and have a nose for the goal. Purely a bench guy, but IMO we need one.

I'm also not tied to the him specifically, so if someone similar (preferably with more athleticism) was available for the same deal I'd still be down.

Wasn't he leading college with "and ones" at one time? We definitely need someone like that (looking at you Mek...).

Hansbrough will not be a star.
    Or a starter.
But for a 25-30ish pick. Thats solid bench production.
And hes becoming a better shooter to make up for his lack of size.
When you watch a guy like that you have to realize he will do whatever he has to, to adapt.
