    Default Canes re-sign Jokinen, Cole...

The Hurricanes and restricted free agent Jussi Jokinen have agreed to terms on a new two-year contract worth an average of $1.7 million per season. Despite his extremely successful playoffs (11 points in 18 games) his annual cap hit will actually go down slightly from the two-year contract he signed with Dallas prior to the 2007-08 season.

RALEIGH, NC—Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, announced today that the team has agreed to terms with forward Erik Cole on a two-year contract. The deal will pay Cole $2.8 million in 2009-10 and $3 million in 2010-11.

Glad to have both of the boys back...I think the team we had last season in the playoffs was very good and definitely a championship contender, so re-signing our key free agents is smart...

Still need to re-sign LaRose, Ruutu, and Babchuk..

Hah! I just read in the local paper today that Rutherford had told LaRose's agent that we were going to look in another direction!

Very glad we got him back. Jokinen was a must too. Cole...eh.
