Personally, I think its just good old fashion negotiating and everything will be fine. For so long we've seen NBA players get crazy money their play didn't deserve because the market dictated what guy got. Now, we have a market lowering a players worth and the players Agents are still trying to get the "old" NBA money.

Hell, even Portland didn't offer Roy max years and numbers as soon as they were allowed to per the CBA! Felton will be signed and then criticized by all of us for at least the next 4-5 years.
