The similarities between the '05 and '09 groups are crazy

When McCants, Felton and May were dominating in college, McCants was my favorite because he could shoot, drive, play defense, and was just all-around sick nastayyyyy.

Felton has ended up having a solid career, McCants has bounced around, and May is just turr-able.

This recent crop of UNC domination (Lawson, Ellington, Hansbrough) has me in the same position. I love Ellington and what he can bring to the table. Sick shot, developed handles, and plays good team defense.

Let's hope Ellington doesn't mirror McCants' NBA career.

Maybe LB views him as an undersized SF. We do need a suitable backup for Gerald and McCants could very well make this picture a lot easier.

    C- Chandler/Diop/Mohammed
    PF- Diaw/Radmanovich/Ajinca
    SF- Wallace/McCants/Brown
    SG- Bell/Henderson/Jefferson
    PG- Felton/Augustin

That ladies and gentlemen looks like the 2009/2010 Charlotte Bobcats lineup. LB likes versatility, so you have the following who can play other positions in situations

    Chandler (C and PF)
    Diaw (PF and SF)
    Radman (PF and SF)
    Brown (SF and PF)
    Ajinca (PF and C)
    Wallace (SF, PF, and SG)
    Henderson (SG and SF)
    Felton (SG and PG)
    McCants (SF and SG)
    Bell (SG and SF)

That's an interesting observation..! If we sign Rashad, then letting May walk away will be a wash for us..actually, slightly better since Rashad has way more upside than May.

I agree with some of the posts, Rashad is a pretty solid player. I think he is gotten screwed over in the minutes, he is very competitive and has a good shot.

My biggest concern is for LB and Rashad getting along. I can see this being a love fest at first..and getting real sour towards the end and Rashad getting less minutes. Just playing it out in my mind.

Rashad is a pretty complicated person, lot of issues. Just not sure how long LB would put up with him

McCants has always been a talented dude; but as Playoffs mentioned, he does have "issues," whatever they are. Isn't the guy kind of off focus much of the time and generally not "all there" on the court? That translates into poor hustle stats. I'm not sure LB can fix that.

I don't think Rashad is very competitive at all; not a lot of fire there.

The last thing I'd do is give him a longterm deal. That would just reward his self-made irrelevance.

And...like AI; I don't really see how he fits. As a 3rd SG; his minutes would be limited; which can't be good for a guy like McCants.

I thought we needed a PF?

In the end, i would be happy with this. It is a healthy alternative to AI. This is probably better then siging Iverson due to age, but i still would have rather had Iverson...

It is what it is . A NBA minium contract . One of our final roster spots.

I think you have to take a chance with that last spot or two . And go with ability and upside. Players like McCants has tons of up side . At worst you cut him . At best hes our starting two guard next year.

The only other player i would reather take a chance on is G Green . I actually think he has more upside than McCants.

But i feel either at a minium contract is a steal . I would rather have either or both and let Jefferson walk. Think about it we have players whos making six milion a year whos no better than McCants or G Green . Both players are a steal at that price .I think Brown is making a great choice considering side show BOB has him handcuffed with money.

I am a long time UNC fan so I am very happy to hear that we might be signing Rashad McCants. Hopefully he can get his career going here with his old teammate Raymond Felton.
