Id extend Raja if he has a good year and dont get injured every 10-20 games...![]()
......Go Bobcats!!!!! !!!..
I audibly heard it somewhere, I don't have a link, sorry. But he did say it.
I wouldn't extend Raja because he's entering the twilight of his career, and after last season as a GM I don't know how much he's going to play for me. Plus, with his expiring contract I can make a play for something at the deadline. After the season, however, as long as nothing horrible happens, I'm open to resigning him for sure, as long as he doesn't want a lot of money. But good move by the FO.
I agree with you, Teej. I love what he brings to the team as well, but looking at it from a FO point of view, if you extend his contract you probably take a little bit of luster off the trade value he has. He is a little older, but can still knock down shots and defend...all that with an expiring contract going into FreeAgentPalooza 2010. That would be appealing to many teams, I'm sure. I think adding years to that would make it harder to move him if the opportunity presents itself.
After thinking about it you're right about not extending Raja...but part of me regrets the thought of possibly losing the one vet leader we have. As noted in the "leadership" thread it's questionable that we even have another on the roster capable of taking over his role.
On Flip...he's certainly serviceable, but unless he makes a big leap I think we're in trouble if we have to resort to him being our starting SG full time. 6th man tho I think he's a pretty good choice.
