Boards and turnovers

Well...who ever it was knows nothing about our team...as far as the TOs...if he cuts them down this year I'll go with the communication...but he still is underwhelming in my book...

^I was kind of shocked to read that too, as I think Crash does more, but Diaw was without a doubt second. No way mek, Ray or Raja did more.

As for the to's, Boris is the only guy on the team I've seen who can make great passes. I'm willing to excuse the bad ones, becuase a lot of that was miscommunication leading to drops rather than boneheaded stuff on his part. My only complaint is he doesn't shoot enough.

As for Ray, he has a lot to work on with to's, so do Vladi, Stevie Wonder, DJ, and Crash. They all looked horrific in the preseason turning it over. DJ actually had more than Ray in the preseason...

I agree about preseason dav...I thought Ray looked good...I think cutting his minutes down during the season would help...I hope he keeps it up all year...

Diaw and Felton lead the team in assists on a regular basis. Guys who are just swinging the ball around the perimeter aren't getting many turnovers but they aren't making many assists either. Guys who put their teammates in position to score on a regular basis have so many more opportunities to have a turnover. Who else on our team, other than Augustine, really makes the kind of passes that make the other guys better?

I really don't understand the negativity about Diaw. For me, he is clearly the straw that stirs the drink and the absolute main reason we looked like a much improved team last year. Am I really looking at this through orange colored glasses?

Not from my perspective you're not...I totally agree.

Nah, I think you misunderstood what I was trying to say.

Pace was the reason we were 26th in total boards. If you adjust the number for pace we end up being a lot better than that.

Example: Steven Jackson pulls in 8 boards a season & Crash also pulls in 8 boards a season. Are they equal rebounders or is one better?

Answer: Crash easily. Since GSW is a much faster paced team there are more boards to be had. Per 100 possessions puts the teams on a more equal footing...and in that respect we're at least average in rebounding.

The only thing that's changed is Mek for TC and at worst we lose 1-2 boards a game assuming TC stays healthy.

LB was complaining about the boards in preseason, and rightfully so. Boris vs. the Griz had ONE board in 33 minutes; last season he averaged 6 in 37 minutes. The backups are sucking, but as we've noted the backups always have sucked.

If you haven't noticed LB has certain things that are important for bigs to do. Until they're at least decent at it he's going to beat on them like a drum.

I agree pace should factor some but should not by any means should be the key factor in addressing our teams lack of rebounding. Brown is addressing this as a key factor . Then i assume its a problem.

If we look at where we can inprove
Diop is a disapointment for his size
Nazz is average at best on boards
Lexy i feel has the most up side in this area
Radman doesn't seem instrested in mixing it up much
TC will hit the boards well and mix it up on the glass
Wallace boards very well and mixes it up . Our best rebounder
Diop is very soft on the boards and don't like to mix it up. Though he has the lynth and ability to board.
Brown . shows flashes , If he attacks the boards harder he could board well.
Henderson can get up ,mix it up , and should be very good on the boards

I feel Radman, Diop, and Diaw , need the most work in this area?

Going with a big line up helps more than any thing in this area.
If Boris or Wallace moves to two Those two can switch on the pick with ease.
Both Wallace and Boris can both post up more with smaller defenders. This mis match along is worth the change

TC and Lexy can both defend the rim on the pick all so . Both can challange the shot leaving the other to hit the board. Leaving only Felton or DJ to fight through the pick . But with the lynth of TC and Lexy recovery should be much easyer.
Position rebounding should be much better .

Resorting to a small back court causes us so many more disadvantages.

DJ , Henderson , Nazz , Bell off the beanch going with only a nine man rotation
Nazz backing up both TC and Lexy
Henderson backing up at s/g to give Boris and Wallace a rest
DJ backing up only Felton
Bell to stop a hot hand at the two or three position.
Only spot play for the rest of the team
