Yeah, I know, he's only 27 and he's only been here 5 seasons.

But he's the only guy on the team right now who has a legitimate shot, and he's done so much for the franchise, my question is really, how much longer does he have to play for the team to get the honor?

I think if he plays most of his career here and performs as he has, there's a solid chance they'll retire his number if for no other reason than to establish a Bobcat legacy.

I don't think he's the only guy with a chance though. A lot of our young guys have a chance. Although, Wallace is the one who's chance relies the least on team success.

Hornets only have two retired numbers, Pistol Pete and Bobby Phills. It's not very common in professional basketball to have your number retired. Here's a list of retired numbers in the NBA: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...jersey_numbers

Basically, you have to be a major contributor while winning a championship for the franchise, put in a decade of work at a high level or die while under contract. If he continues to be our best player for another 5 seasons, he deserves to have his number retired. Since we'll probably have wasted his prime, I imagine it's the least we could do.
