i get why most of these guys don't care about the foul shot. it doesn't make the highlight real, you won't get noticed because of it. the thing i don't get about these stat guys, if you can get to the line 8 times a game and shoot 90%, you are added over 6 pts to your scoring avg and that will get you paid. imagine shaq's career scoring avg if he shot 70% from the line. look what it did for crash when he started making more.

i guess it is the same as why people won't put 10% of their paycheck into a 401k accumulating $ overtime (not flashy) but will sink a bunch of money into a spec stock hoping to strike it rich.

Flip is the one player who really gets me - how is your major role to be a shooter but you aren't even hitting 60% on the year?

That's been Flip his whole career. Our problem seems to be that instead of realizing that and limiting his minutes when he's "off" we would prefer to give him consistent minutes regardless.

Most likely that'll bite us in the ass just as much as we benefit from it.

I don't really disagree. However, our guys have so much to learn that I think FTs have been on the back burner for many of them. That's one thing great about being a naturally gifted superstar: you can spend less time on a lot of the things others need to practice and focus on tinkering your few weaknesses.

I haven't been to a practice, but I'm imagining those guys are pretty busy with Brown in their ears.

This ft shooting problem is eating me as well....big time. For years, we could never get the refs to blow the whistle fairly to get us to the stripe. We are finally getting there and have the chance to capitalize but are doing ourselves in. Basic fundamental basketball for a coach that preaches it must be driving lb crazy.
